Thanks to all who came along to the Poems & Pints at the Beartown Tap in Congleton last Thursday. It was another very good turnout and a fabulous evening. What’s more, £64 was raised for Oxfam and I’ll be delivering the cheque personally to their Congleton shop this afternoon. Thanks to you all.
For those of you who were unable to get along, here’s a brief update. The P & P nights at the Tap have been running for over 10 years. I recently decided to make this month’s event my last, as far as my involvement in organising, publicising and hosting the night is concerned. (As you’ll have seen from my recent comments on soaring attendances, I’m hardly abandoning a sinking ship!) Happily Phil Williams has come forward to take over from me. I think Phil has been mulling over the possibility of a P & P/Open mic’ night, possibly in Alsager, for a little while. Anyway, for the time being at least he’ll be carrying things on at the Tap so it’s ‘business as usual’ with the next event on Thursday 12th May and every other month going forward. I’m giving a copy of my circulation list to Phil so that he can keep you posted. Be assured that he’ll not be passing your addresses on. He’ll simply be using it to keep you informed about P & P and similar events.
Many of you already know Phil Williams. Apart from being a great guy, he’s very knowledgeable about poetry, a fine poet himself and will be a terrific host at Poems & Pints. Please keep giving these nights your tremendous support.
I’m continuing to emcee the superb P & P nights at The Crown in Goostrey, of course. The next is Wednesday 6th April. Hope to see you there.
