For a while now my favourite place in Congleton to take morning coffee, with my dog, Cody, sitting contentedly beneath my table (Hey! This is my kind of place.) has been De Laceys. It’s a tapas bar that snugly occupies the left-hand front of the Town Hall building.
A few months ago I sat there thinking, ‘What a great place this would be in an evening to hold an open mic’ poetry event’. Well, one day I stopped thinking about it and began talking about it and planning it with the keen and friendly staff of this establishment (they are already well used to hosting live events).
As a result, the 28th March sees the first of what it is hoped will become a regular night of poetry, drinks and tapas.
If you can join us, and I hope you can, please take note of the advice at the bottom of the flyer (see ‘Events’ page) to ensure you get a table.
